It is very interesting to me that while being a die hard Dem, after reading Dark One's opening comments I found myself in agreement on most major issues. I think I would forget about the wall but understand why it is an important issue to many. So I find we really do have much common ground if we can tone down the rhetoric a little. A ll of us want to help those who need it. We don't want to help those who can help themselves. We want to get the terrorists and protect this country. We have much of the important stuff in common it seems to me.

I do think Hillary needs to get out. I think she has reason to stay and I understand as a former elected official in my community...you work hard, you have alot of people depending on you and theur money in your pocket and it is hard to quit. But sometimes you need to look at the big picture. I do think many Hillary supporters will vote for McCain though. I have more but it is late but great topic and I will really enjoy this one as I can't stand any of the candidates really!!!! :bad:

I think a Dem will take the White House this year. Besides, we can't afford another 4 or 8 years of a person who will continue the Bush tradition of war spending, or tax relief to the rich.

Personally being a Republican I am not happy with any of my choices left. I actually wanted Romney. I think we needed a president with a business background to help us out of our difficulties. Our nation is slowly bleeding to death... it's not because of the war at all. It is because effort and the willingness to do things for the greater good of the country just not the few people WE MIGHT offend.

Sometimes my views may offend people but I am a bit of a hard ass and don't ever want too see my country fall down. It's not that I don't sympathize or care about people.... I do. But when it comes to self preservation of our country and our way of life that comes first in my mind. I want to know that when I am old and my children and grand kids are growing that they will not have a hard life. That's what every person wants for their family for them to do better and have more than what they had.

Things you should think about not just for picking the president but any political position. Personally we should scrap all of congress and senate and start over they are worthless and very corrupt.

Some thoughts:

- We need to close the flood gates into our country and deny all people that don't use the right channels to become a citizen. Round up all illegals and send them back to their country of origin. Illegals should get no privileges that a citizen should have. We have to make it less desirable to come here. Illegal aliens stress our welfare systems, social security and our medical and educational systems. YES THEY DO USE THESE SYSTEMS AND ARE RUINING IT FOR THE REST OF US!

People say and whine about they do the jobs we won't do. Well simple you take the people that can work on welfare and you make them work for the money... hey thats a new concept work for $$. Instead of just a damn handout. Didn't our parents teach us anything??? I was taught to never take handouts and too always work everything I get. And it is sound advice because I take a lot of pride in that.

- English NEEDS to be the national language! Enough said on that!

- Why are we loosing jobs and some of our biggest companies suffering? Because we are not buying from them any more. We are punishing them for not putting out a cheap product. Raise the taxes on imports into our country or least take foreign companies more to do business with us. Our auto-manufacturers are suffering and out of all them they employ 100's of thousands of people and we do nothing. If everyone just bought American made cars for just 1-2 yrs it would do so much.

- Alternative fuels and oil... well in the immediate term while we wait for alternatives to become popular we need to drill for oil in the USA we have plenty of it just people whine about drilling for it so we pay amazing prices for it. Can't remember but in Venezuela they pay .06 a gallon. We pay on average $3.20 there is plenty of oil its just these countries are trying to stick it to us. We are sitting on enough oil to supply our needs for roughly 100 yrs. That is plenty of time to find a alternative fuel source. REMEMBER this is all about $$$$$. If we tell these nations to fuck off and drill it ourselves they would freak out and they would bow to our needs and lower that price. We need to build 1-5 more oil refineries and every state should have a nuclear plant the technology we have is amazing. The nuclear plant we have here in NH supplies power to 4 states and Canada. Not one issue ever in the 25 years it's been here and it is very safe.

- Education... We export a lot of our work overseas not too much because of pay its because our children are not as smart as other countries children. I read an article the other day where a CEO was complaining he wanted to hire in the USA but couldn't find skilled workers. This all goes back to the handout system of government make people work and get educated.

Enough of me ranting... yes my views may offend people. But I don't believe and giving anything for free. Do I believe sending everyone a check in May-June for hundreds of dollars is a good thing. NO! People want to help us lower interest rates and taxes on various services.

Since I last wrote here much has happened and I appreciate the opinions, even if we do not agree. I know that here in Montana there is a big controversy right now over drilling for oil on the Rocky Mountain front and in Glacier Park.

My point is that I clearly remember the disrespected Jimmy Carter ( disrespected by Republicans anyway), telling us to get off foreign oil in the late 70's. We did not listen because big oil wanted to have its way with us. They are not mistreated by the Middle East. They also do not build new refineries when they are making the most money, of any company, anywhere...EVER!!!! Of course there are two sides to every story but I agree with DO on the nuclear issue. If I decide to run for the State House here in a couple years one of the main issues will be nuclear power and producing power with wind...which we have in great abundance here. I am one of the main contributors by the way to that technology although it does not come through as much on the internet!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I agree that we need to harness nuclear power and use it as many other areas of the country are doing.

I still would rather fight terrorism effectively and without getting bogged down in a civil war in Iraq. I guess I think of my own experience in Vietnam. It is something I can not change within my soul because I was a corpsman and watched many die there for NOTHING!!!! I was told when arriving in 70 that we were going to get out and to keep my ass down and get home in one piece. Anyone that was there will tell you that was the mantra after Tet. My point is that we have to be smarter than the terrorists and no one is going to convince me that sending billions to a region that can't even stand up for themselves is a good thing. Some will and some won't. Russia did it although they are struggling. I realize it is apples and oranges but still it is valid to see that those under oppression have a responsibility to fight for what they care about. We have done our job and created a new terrorist haven and centerpiece for their idealistic idiocy. We need to be smarter than that. The problem is that none of the candidates seem to have that intelligence except Obama who wants to talk to our enemies...fine if Nixon had not talked to China we would not owe them trillions now...right??? :rotfl: :banghead: :cray: China will change eventually from the hardline as the old fools die off and so it was smart to talk to our enemies. Maybe Obama has the edge with me...I don't know yet. Just thinking out loud.

Romney would be a smart choice for McCain for Veep. Being a Mormon is not relevant to me. Most I know here are some of the best business people you will find anywhere!! So I agree with D1 on that. I do not like the splinters in his butt from hopping around on the fence though. But as any good politician knows...you have to talk the language to get people to understand. I also agree that Congress is basically worthless and we need to put regular people in office and see what happens...I mean by that just average well trained citizens and then tell them they have 6 years and they can't run again. Just a thought ...more later...good topic though and I like hearing opposing views...it makes me think. It is painful but I will continue to think... :yahoo: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I personally wouldn't mind Romney as a VP but it would be smart that he doesn't just incase McCain does fail he won't be labeled for the next election. Him being a mormon is not an issue for this Catholic I just want someone that will get the country going again. There is no real candidate I actually want but I will vote for the republican just because McCain is easier to stomach than Clinton or Obama.

Oil companies need permission to create oil refineries which they never get permission to build because no one wants them in there back yards. But a few more months of $4+ a gallon and I think peoples minds will change. Nuclear and wind power is the way to go in my mind. And protection the borders and right now the only person that may protect the borders is McCain. It may seem trivial to most people but none of the Democrat candidates agreed to make english the national language which tweaks me the wrong way...

Oh enough of my ranting.... but if Obama is going to have a chance Clinton needs to bow out now instead of causing so much shit in her party. Personally I think she is damaging any hopes for a retry at this in four more years. But we'll see what June brings for entertainment :)
