One thing I will say is Dano is right...the vid section is totally over run ..just because people dont think..or that they want to get thier post count higher by posting single vids instead of just running a thread.

If these people wont take some friendly advice..IE...a PM alerting them to the fact..then they should have thier account suspended.

Yeah it is a pain in the age of technology that people can still be rude and waste peoples time with posting crap when you ask them nicely. Now that ruins my niceness for others

Now I have a zero tolerance level for the crap now and sometimes don't even give a warning and just ban away. I am trying to find a mod that asks a question a account creation and maybe restrict posting links until you have a certain amount of posts etc... still working on finding something thou.

You know... I know another place where the admin actually has it set up so that people have to use the email that they joined with (after a verification email is sent out) just in order to log in... that might be something to look into... it seems to help tone down on some of the garbage?

I can do that it's just a click in the admin panel I always turned it off because it is a pain for a user to check there mail and confirm but I guess I can enable it just to see if that curbs the spam a little bit.

I see a mod here that puts in a random question in the account creation screen that people need to answer and this will stop auto account creation. Ah the never ending battle to stop people from spamming.

I think all the things I installed and configured are really doing an ok job at keeping the spammers at bay. That alone was worth my update personally because some of the posters were messing up the experience for others after several attempts to contact them and work something out.

Yes that's true...

We'll see how things go here...

I don't understand... because for me a "forum" has always been about the exchange of information and sharing... which for me requires interaction between the members... so I really have no use for those that don't interact with the other people here.

That's the big question mark for me is getting more people chatting

I have yet to solve that riddle. I think the big part is exposure and I will be working on that once I get everything technically fixed here.

Well like I said... with big exposure comes more assholes... so yes... you'll get more people here... I will never understand why most people just like lerking... but we'll see what happens.
