I can't get to my separate IE bookmarks without going through Firefox!
I've had to download some games, etc. to firefox to access them..Takes up a lot of
space on my antique computer..

BTW..Do you realize there are 338 unanswered topics???

Hmmm

So if you open up Internet Explorer you don't have access to your bookmarks in IE? If that's true that is very strange and it doesn't work like that at all. I can have both IE and FF open at the same time surfing th same page or different pages with no issues at all.

I think you might just have some configuration issues. When was the last time you formatted and reinstalled everything on your machine?

This is a good thing to do once a year or so. Reason why is that over time your computer will get heavily bogged down with crap that is left over from installs/uninstalls, registry settings never removed, spyware/adware not getting removed properly. And if you don't run defrag frequently that will effect your performance bigtime especially on old machines and harddrives.

You might want to think about doing this if you have the operating system disks and drivers for your hardward Doc. It will improve your system performance greating. And depending on how old your machine is it might just be worth the $$ to get a newer one. You can get deals on a dell on there website sometimes you can get a new one for about $3-500 dollars which is pretty cheap and you will be good for computing for atleast another 5+ years.

On the issue with the 300+ posts with no responses. It's ok Doc. I have plenty of DB space and some of those posts are informative only really so they really need no response. Plus if you use the search tool and looking for certain info you never know what you can find and maybe resurrect an old post :) Some people have different interests so I guess no post is unwanted they just haven't found the right person...

For instance..I still have to switch to Firefox when I come to this site..
It just doesn't work with IE yet..Unfortunately, a lot of people who have joined here
don't post much because it isn't very compatible with IE.
My computer is completely cleaned of dead files, cookies and scan disc and defragged
every week..

I have tested this site on IE 6-7 both work perfectly fine. I cannot see any issues with IE at all if you should have any issues it should be with Firefox because the portal was actually built with IE in mind. No one gives me examples of what is going on besides it might be slow.

There is so many variables that can play into the slowness on everyone's PC's. From not having correct java plugins installed. There browsers are not up to date. Not having their OS updated. Etc... there are so many possibilities. I have tested this site over and over on IE and FF on Windows and Linux and I have no issues at all when the machines are configured correctly.

I do admit that the site may wiegh a bit more so people that do have dialup connections might have issues from time to time with page loads. Which I try to work on a lot when I get feedback and even better a screenshot of the issue I can try to figure things out.

I will be starting work on the new version of this site that is less bandwidth intensive and easier to navigate. My biggest stumbling block will be DB migration to the newer version of phpbb. I am hoping this will go well so I need to do some testing on upgrading so I try to minimize the loss of any data.

I want to move to a less intensive site and make a bit more easy to manage personally because it's a lot of work at times :) I am just waiting for phpbb 3.0 to mature a bit before I jump into it. I was going to start testing at the end of this month and I was going to invite all to give me feedback and recommendations of the new area. I will post a link in the forums for people to access this new area when I get it up and running. So bare with me :)

I was just reading above and found IE does not work for me here and I defrag frequently, keep everything clean but agree it is probably my config. But I have had no trouble with Firefox at all and use that here. Just my experience. I tried IE again this morning and got on so hit or miss. I will go defrag now!!!! :beach:
