This question seems wrong to me:
1. In the 1940s, where were automobile headlight dimmer switches located?
a. On the floor shift knob.
b. On the floor board, to the left of the clutch.
c. Next to the horn.
Most notably, the word "dimmer". The switch on the floorboard was for switching your brights on or off. There was no way that I recall to dim your headlights.
IMO, this was one control that was better left to the floor. With so many automatic transmissions these days, the left foot does virtually nothing. On a long night drive, it's a pain to have to constantly work the idiot stick for brights.
