Getting dumped

Postby DarkOne on August 13 2007, 04:32 PM

I have been reading that more and more people are starting to get the bad news of a breakup either by text message, instant message or email. That is pretty unpersonalized if you ask me and disconnected. Has this happened to you or done this to someone? And why did you?

Whatever happened to doing this in person or on the phone.

I am old and old-fashioned, I guess, but I would consider this the height of bad manners. If you have been close enough to be dating then you owe it to someone to deal with this face-to-face or at least by letter or phone. I know dumping is a difficult task for all concerned but texting is too cowardly.

I agree with you totally. If I ever got a text message saying someone didn't want to see me again. I would be man actually not for the dumping but for how it was done. And that anyone deserves better treatment or respect in that matter.

Hi there Peeps,

Just thought I would share my recent break up with my fiancee as I got dumped through a text message after 4 years. I guess the fact that she couldn't talk to me like a respectful adult was the reason for our break up. I would love to share this with you people:

"We r best not 2gether, things will never work wi us im sorry lets call it a day and try b friends i will stay away from u but if we do c each other pls dont make it nasty. i hope ur job goes well i do love u but cant live like we wer anymore im sorry 4 all i put u through truly sorry take care of u and my boys xx"

ps the boys are my 2 dogs.

Pretty lame huh. I went to see her afterwards and she cant even look me in the eye. I was gutted for a few months but now I realise I am the winner in all this as I have been wasting my time on someone who lacks respect and cant even begin to understand that communication in any relationship, whether it is with your friends family or lovers, is the most important thing.

Im gonna stop before I start to rant. LOL.

Nothing wrong with ranting that's what the forums are for :)

I won't pry at all on what she said about how you two were living but still. That should have been a conversation point between you two and if there were issues least they would have been known instead of getting a damn text message. Yes there is always some fear or regret when having to confront someone with some bad news, but that person may respect you for doing it and you get too look them in there face which can point out a few things like lying or holding things back.

I guess the only time I would think it's ok to not do a face to face is the threat of violence.

But you are right MadScot you were the winner out of this. Because it shows she will not communicate well with others and somewhat disconnected since she didn't have the respect for your 4 yrs together to talk to you face to face.

sorry you got treated like that madscot, that would have to pretty much suck to be treated like that by someone.

ppl's attitudes in this respect to me just show a level of immaturity if they haven't got the decency to sit down and discuss the problem properly if they have came to this decision in the first place.

What you said about immaturity DarkOne is sooo right. Problem is she is nearly 40 years old, LMAO

If you haven't grown up by that time then I guess you never will. I'm much better now anyways and me and my 2 boys are doing fine. Ive actually started to date a new girl now thats half that age

Heres a few pics of me n the boys relaxing at home that Im sure you people will love. It will give you an idea of what I am like.

I remember in Moonstruck, when Loretta's boyfriend broke up with her and did it at the Italian restaurant. She walked out and kept eating. Of course, it might be better to do it before any of the food arrives so you don't get it thrown at you but you can enjoy a good meal afterwards.
